Any Wilmar China IPO To Be In China, Not Hong Kong

The FINANCIAL -- Wilmar International will list its Chinese operations in that country if and when it decides to launch an initial public offering, Kuok Khoon Hong, company chairman and chief executive, said Wednesday.

According to London Stock Exchange, the company had earlier planned a Hong Kong listing of the Chinese operations because of a speedy approval process. It later dropped the plan because of adverse market conditions.

The company has had preliminary talks with stock exchanges in China, but the IPO is "some years down the road," Kuok added in response to questions about the timing of a share sale.
