The FINANCIAL -- Silknet, one of the leading communication operators in Georgia, is offering a home schooling service entitled ‘Home School’ as part of its package which enables one to learn 8 school subjects for free.

Through the company’s new brand ‘TV on Demand’ subscribers can interact with educational programmes and videos. The project, which started two weeks ago, has already attracted 80,000 visitors. By July 2012, six more lessons will be added to the Home School service, these are Geography, History, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and the English Language.

“Home School is a social educational project which is helping children to become better educated. 15-20 minute lessons are listed in the Silk TV menu. All twelve lessons will be available to customers and they may choose the appropriate school subject and lesson for them. Users will be available to pause and rewind the lessons.”

“The same kinds of projects are being realized in different parts of the world. Accordingly we are trying to develop Distance Learning in Georgia. Our Home School is very useful for pupils. Not least of all because children will have the opportunity to experience the education process on an individual basis,” said Gia Murgulia, Project Coordinator.

“These kinds of projects are widely available in developed countries. Silknet decided to create this project for the purpose of increasing the level of education of the country’s youth. One of the most important facts about this project is that the TV lessons are free. Eight school subjects will soon be available to our customers. These subjects represent a whole school teaching programme. These lessons completely correspond to the national education plan. 24 professional teachers are involved in the project. Children will be able to have access to education whilst at home,” said Nino Daraseli Head of Silknet’s PR Department.

“This is one of the most important projects to have been realized by our company. The project will be constantly getting updated. The process of choosing teachers was fairly hard actually as a number of the teachers were shy about working in front of the camera. But in the end we achieved a good result and the project has already become very attractive to our customers,” Dareseli said.

PSP and BTA Bank have sponsored the Georgian Language and Maths lessons.

“The statistics that we already have prove the importance and necessity of this project. 80,000 guests have already visited the Home School section of the service. We are sure that this project will become even more successful as time goes by. Many people do not have the possibility to enjoy a private teacher. This project will allow parents to have their children attend regular lessons and thereby increase their level of education,” said Nino Qajaia, BTA Bank representative.

“Our bank is pleased to be taking part in a project of such importance. BTA Bank will continue taking part in similar social projects in the future therefore. We support healthy lifestyle among the country’s youth and we are always keen to take part in different social activities therefore,” Kajaia said.

Silk TV recently offered a new service - Silk Wallet. With the help of this addition to the service package, customers of Silk TV are now able to pay their bills with the help of ‘Silk Wallet’. In addition, another great new service is that Silk TV subscribers can now order products from Smart Supermarket shelves directly from their TV and then have them delivered to their door. Ordering products is available 24 hourly. The supermarket’s home delivery service operates between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. Payment can be made via Silk Wallet with either debit or credit cards.

Another novelty is that those subscribers who are insured at Aldagi BCI are now able to get a ‘Priority Card’. Customers who aren’t yet insured with the provider company have the opportunity to receive discounts on needed insurance products (e.g. health, auto and property insurance) and use the Priority Card.
